Hello lovely backers,

Wow, what a whirlwind it’s been! First and foremost, I wanted to extend a massive thank you to each and every one of you for your enthusiastic participation in the artwork voting process for the track “Soon.” Your engagement and support mean the world to me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for your involvement.

Now, onto some exciting news! We received the music video for “Soon” last night, and let me tell you, it’s absolutely magical. After much deliberation and consideration, we’ve decided to take a slightly different route with the artwork. Instead of using any of the options we voted on, we’ve opted for a still from the video itself. 

But fear not, dear backers! Your efforts in voting for the artwork certainly won’t go to waste. We’ve earmarked the winning designs for another track release later this year, so stay tuned for that!

Love the lyrics – particularly the beginning – and a good chorus. I can hear trumpets in the background – possibly doing a solo at some point.

I agree with the comments, thus far. Possibly a harmonica accompaniment in non lyrical segments, like a Neil Young HEART OF GOLD, giving a Blue Grass vibe. Possibly a flute accompaniment with the last verse, complementing Saskia’s angelic voice treatment.

This is so easy to relax and listen to. I’d enjoy hearing a saxophone in this – or something not too rigid, The way I hear it, there’s a wistfulness. Just roll with it.

Nice rhythmic contrast. The drummer should love the chance to “shuffle.” My only concern is that the bad luck/no luck idea is far from original. The type of thing that American song comps. (Song Door especially) like to call cliche (I’m sure you’ve guessed, I speak from experience).

This song has me in quandary. It’s a must for inclusion on the album as it’s so accessible and radio friendly and I can hear an Eddi Reader (Perfect) type production. It’s a great catchy melody with a simple and effective hook that really suits your voice. And there lies the rub for me. The whole line ‘If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all’ is not original (Ray Charles). And whilst it’s almost impossible to be totally original even using wordplay that’s been done before, I think using all the 12 words in the same order is a red-line I personally wouldn’t cross. It’s because it’s so clever it has to be unique and original I’m afraid. That said, I think I may be in the minority with that steadfast self-imposed rule and other than that there is a lot to recommend a great song worthy of inclusion.
