V1
Make no mistake, who will take away your time and your mind?
Who will fight against the day when you pay for your life with your life?

V2
Do you see what I see? Whisky’s closer than me
And I can’t hold your hand you will dance the way you want around your fear of the day when you pay

Chorus
But I don’t want you to go
And I know that I don’t know
The things that you’ve been keeping to yourself, do you want help from the edge? Do you?

V3
Coz it seems that you like being tortured inside
And the pain hides the pain of your self destructive ways
But if you want, life is yours, you can turn this around
I don’t believe in the lie there is no purpose to your life

Chorus
And I don’t want you to go
And I know that I don’t know
The things that you’ve been keeping to yourself, do you want help from the edge? Do you?

Bridge
I believe you’re innocent, just a child who paid a price
For a life you didn’t choose and now your mind isn’t quite right

V4
And if I could love the world I would show up in your life
And tell you that you deserve to rebuild your broken mind

Chorus
Coz I don’t want you to go
And I know that I don’t know
The things that you’ve been keeping to yourself, do you want help from the edge? Do you?

  1. I like the change of pace in the chorus of this one. In a production version, can definitely make the most of this change of feeling, e.g. possibly adding some reverb on The Edge

  2. Another definite inclusion, gorgeous song. Just your voice and a guitar until the first ‘Do you’ then the band comes in dropping out when you sing ‘From the edge’. The chorus is just so hauntingly beautiful.

  3. Beautiful and extremely clever and deep. This is very much an acoustic song and needs nothing adding. Having said that as you intend to use a band for the album this song should be kept back for a futur acoustic album. My star rating is given to indicate it’s inclusion/exclusion on your album. For a futur acoustic album I would give it 10 stars.

  4. Wonderful melody and lyric. Engaging from start to finish. Obvious would be strings, but maybe go for something eastern like a sitar.
